Harris zeroes in on fantasy sports, betting sites like DraftKings

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ campaign is set to air new ads on fantasy sports, sports betting and sports news sites, marking a major push before the November election, USA TODAY Sports has learned.

The ads are scheduled to air Friday morning and are part of the campaign’s push to reach potential male voters, the campaign said. The ads will appear on video game websites like IGN, the world’s biggest media games site, and Fandom, as well as Yahoo Sports. The campaign also says it’s the first to advertise on DraftKings.

The campaign is also advertising on more than 100 mobile video games.

The new ads will air digitally as part of the campaign’s $370 million fall paid media effort targeting voters from across battleground states. In this case the campaign is aiming at gamers and gamblers.

The video and gambling universe is a potentially rich environment for the campaign, particularly since it says it wants to reach more men. DraftKings had approximately 18 million monthly website visitors in the United States, with about 75% of visitors being men. Fandom gets over 700 million visits per month in the U.S., with approximately two-thirds of that audience being men.

Also, IGN gets over 120 million website visits per month in the U.S. with 72% of that site’s visitors being men.
